Worth noting: If you're going for the warmth of tubes
here you're not going to get it (although a tube pre
amp would help). When the bi amped vinyl leslies first
came out in the 70's (as I recall) I was taken with
their power and clean sound. Over the years I've come
to realize that a large part of the magic of the
leslie sound lies in the tube amp. The 122 being the
darker smoother leslie amp (ala Allman Bros et al) as
opposed to the brighter sound of the 147 amp (makes me
think of the edgy sound of Booker T or the organ on
Shotgun by Jr. Walker and the All Stars). Of course
the bottom line of this discourse is that is certainly
a matter of taste all the way around.
All the best,
Roger T [(no relation to Booker T. :)]
