Subject:Re: Voce Spin 2 (Spin II) questions
VoceDave makes sense..... some are on a budget, and sacrifices
sometimes gotta be made.
But to answer your question Differences b/w spin1 and spin2 for now
are from memory. I'm still trying to find some of my audio files
from Spin1 and my former Spin2. But hard to recover from a crashed
harddrive (I'll keep trying)
It may be that I had a "defective" unit, but it sounded exactly alot
like other spin2's I have a few files of.
Also I recall the Keyboard's Leslie Simulators Roundup ('98 or '99?)
which talked about the Spin2>>>>snip>>>"There's a little unevenness,
a bit of a phaser quality, at low speed. The rotation pattern sounds
like the horn is a little lopsided. It's subtle, but if you sustain a
chord your ears really begin to pick it up.<<<>>
perhaps it was just the first batch of Spin2's.
If anyone would be interested, I'd be happy to put together a little
demonstration, and compare Leslie clones, as well as a few
programmings of mine. My latest project involved rebuilding an old
MotionSound R3-147 into a wood rack case, lengthened the horn and
added a diffuser, which really brought it to life in a whole new
way. I'll actually be selling it up on Ebay soon, and I will
encourage the potential buyer to keep me updated and provide audio
samples of his usage of the new R3-147. If time allows, I'll be
working on new "leslie" projects, and perhaps build one from scratch,
and MAYBE a VST plugin (that'll be a while)
I will start a new thread dealing specifically with my theories on
Leslie simulation, and how it really should be done, wether current
technology and cost to produce will sell it....
My personal opinion of the Spin series is that for me, they greatly
lack the depth and dimension that I crave for. But don't feel too
bad, I think NI's B4 leslie stinks, Rolands VK8 leslie stinks, Korg
CX3 and Nord Electro2 leslie could be livable if tweaked right. Even
the mighty Hammond XK3 leslie I have alot to complain about.
But that's another story.
