Subject:Re: My 1st impression (was XK 3 Fever)

Nope. My first impression sold me. Big bass (still bigger than my CX3 or Electro or XM1 or VK stuff). The keyboard action of the XK3 is more like a real Hammond, but is still TOO light. It's a little heavier than the CX3, but only by a hair or 2. If you had to really work at it, something must be up; but I own and play 2 Hammonds at home, as well as an Electro, and the XK3 is lighter than all of em. The NEW Hammond leslies are crap...they have made certain adjustments to guarantee longer tube and driver life (thus saving them on warranty repairs) that can be undone to improve the sound, but the older leslies are the way to go. Even through my Motion Sound Pro 145 the XK3 has great low end.

Caveat: I am not here to engage in a 'my clone is better than yours'

heard countless albums.

I just briefly played a Xk3 at the Sydney release.
The 1st thing that hit me was the stiff action - I felt like i really
had to work it. I am really used to my v1 CX3, which to me has a very
natural action.

I liked the sound, but it didn't seem to be setup correctly, as the
bass section seemed to be an octave out. One I dialed in the "manual
bass" it was better, but not quite right for LH lines.

I heard it through a new leslie, which sounded nice. I still couldn't
hear the real low end to the notes that I hear on Jimmy's recordings.

So, I'm tempted to try it out again and tweak a bit. However it I was
a betting man, I'd bet I'd be staying with my CX3>Leslie 330

Anyone similarly underwhelmed on 1st inspection ?
