I hate to admit this but I traded a wonderful Rhodes suitcase for one of those Univox "slabs" because I saw EW playing one. I have never admitted this to anyone let alone all you people. I got rid of that and bought my first Hammond. M-3,Leslie 22.

maybe wrap up this Frankenstein thread I went to EW's website, got

(VCF or wah pedal, RMI or Univox) We'll see if I get a reply!! His
website is pretty good. He seems like a real happy guy these days.

The Univox piano wasn't out at the time of the recording
of "They Only Come Out At Might." It was a year later that "slab
pianos" became available. There were tons of them, Univox, Sound
City, Elka, Roland, etc. I kept playing my old RMI through that trend
until I got into the Rhodes.
I know a couple of guys that used to play with him (Bass
players, Kenny Aaronson & Charlie Torres.) Kenny said Edgar was a
great guy and a very intelligent musician. Edgar's eye sight is known
to be very poor, one time Edgar was in the dressing and was pissed
off about something, he took a beer bottle and threw it across the
room, it hit the wall and bounced right into a garbage can. The band
busted out laughing. "Good shot Edgar, you got it right in the
basket."
He's also one of those guys that can pick up any
instrument and show you the part to any of his tunes. TZ
