Hhmmm...good points. Thanks for the observations, Tony.

I definitely need that nastier Jon Lord, Mark Stein-ish grind, but I do want
it to be dynamic enough so when you pull back on the pedal it cleans up
somewhat. I don't mind switching to Classic and resetting the gain knobs for clean
jazz/blues stuff. Steve also said it would pop going Classic to Howler, but
it's worth the hassle to have that variety of tone if the Howler truly is useful.
(I go through much worse with my guitar rigs.)

But I wonder if the Barker mod alone cranked up would add enough of the
crunch I'm looking for with the CX-3? (BTW, I can only run the CX-3's master out at
about 10:00/40%; anything above that will introduce occasional digital
clipping at the 1/4-inch outputs, so the input into the SE will be pretty low.)

How much thick grind can you get with just Classic/Barker before moving over
to Howler?
