Subject:Difference between Motion Sound Pro 3T and Speakeasy distortion?
It seems like there are a few here who have tried 'em all...
I'm OK with my CX3, but to my ears the distortion is absolutely unusable,
very harsh and digital, and the percussion is plinky or shrill, as opposed
to a satisfying thunk. I like the gurgly overdrive effect on the VK7, and
the percussion also sounds nice to my ear, but the chorus, vibrato, and top
octave and a half are unusable.
So, how about what a Speakeasy will do for my CX3 as opposed to the Motion
Sound Pro 3T and Low Pro, the set-up I'm currently using. With the Motion
Sound the CX3's percussion still sounds shrill, and the distortion is a
little better but gets lost as the band plays louder. I keep thinking a real
Leslie will add some bottom, and a warmer distortion and top end...the Pro
3T sounds a little tinny to me. I DO like the Leslie sim in my CX3,and when
I run the CX3 into my amp, a 400 watt Peavey PA head with a Black Widow 15"
speaker system, the low end on the CX3 will keep up with the rest of the
band, but the sound is WAY too clean, and I still hate the percussion,
especially the 3rd.
I'm not sold on the 12AUX (?) single tube as a way to get a good fat
sound...
Anyone have any insights? Thansk in advance, and thanks to Dr. Joho for
kicking off such a gerat week of discussions.
Bill
