Subject:Re: B3 Clone Comparison MP3s
Any chance the "phase Shifter" you refer to is simply the Chorus??
(perhaps we need some examples with/without C/V)? By the way,
using chorus on the Lower Manual isn't typical when playing Left
Hand bass (in my experience).. I think for comparative purposes C/V
is being used on both manuals simply because the XK3 doesn't have
the capability to split C/V on the Upper/Lower Manuals.
I've listened to all these MP3's numerous times and while I think
the XK3 has the nicest tone (in fact I am quite impressed), the
Overdrive still seems almost non-existent compared to the other
samples.
I also think that the XK3 with overdrive, and the CX3 without
overdrive, sound VERY close (although the XK3 is a little warmer). I
am surprised at how muddy the Electro sounds.. If I was picking a
clone to do without, it would be the Electro by a mile. (which is
surprising considering all the hype I've heard about the Electro on
this forum).
When listening to these MP3's let's all remember that the way we use
our clones in real life applications (using amps/leslies/tube
preamps etc, in live/studio situations) makes a big difference! And
while these MP3's are a great starting point, they're not the whole
story.. (not to mention the fact that these clones are all extremely
tweakable to suit your taste!)

AND THEN going thru a Leslie!
