I'm very interested in this piece and am curious how you felt about the keyboard of the Promega3. I'd heard varying responses as to its playability.
I wish I could be of more help to you on this, but I am not one that grew up playing piano, nor have I currently either the desire or ability to play complete *solo* piano. I tend to side with those that like organ or synth action. I could even suggest why mimic the throw of a hammer or have action that takes a lot of effort. Old hammond keys are my favorites. I do much of the piano sound through an A 70 Roland controller which they billed as synth or organ action keys. This is on an A Frame over my C3 with my EX5. I do however have the Promega to my right and occassionally reach over and use it direct. There are differing opinions as to whether piano will sound different played from synth keys than from piano action keys. I will say yes, somewhat.
Largely even with 7 choices of response curve and numerical values I find no perfect curve setting on the A 7o. I can't get a good balance between soft and louder. I find I have to use a curve that plays a bit louder in the soft range so as to have enough harmonic content (from any source, but mainly this is true of the Ac pianos. As to the sound itself i am most fond of their piano 3 (actually there's a lot of units out there with only one basic slightly modified piano sound.
The tone evolves more like a real piano when held and runs better on solo passages without requiring quite as much help from damper pedal. I have a damper pedal bolted to the L side of the C3 swell pedal. It'll either develop or kill my ankle muscles!
In regard to the Promega action- it is less tiring to my fingers than my wifes Charles R. Walter piano. Not real stiff. I do get more thunderous low notes through its keyboard than I can get from the A 70. I do expect to try to get more used to the hammer action keys, but its self preservation for my fingers to use the synth action.
Probably not much help, but its a reply!
