Subject:V-Stack for B4, crossplatform questions
Hi Schel (and you other softsynth users),
Are you using V-Stack, and if so, how many softsynths are you running simultaneously? Have you been able to successfully run two
(or more), assign them to different zones on the same controller, and then play them together?
Also, and I don't remember if it was you, but somebody here in referring to my earlier B4 vs. EVB3 question, said they played a WIN
platform version of EVB3. I don't know the history of Emagic and it's products, but from what I can tell, the only way to buy their
softsynths is bundled with Logic, they only play on Mac's, and do to limitations in Logic you can only play one synth at a time.
Would someone knowledgeable about Emagic, Logic, and EVB3 please elaborate on this?
To make it even more complicated (and please set me straight on this because I'm getting confused), the latest Logic 6.4.2 does NOT
run on Windows, but the older Logic 5.5.1 does, if you can find one to buy. Am I right in assuming that the only way to run EVB3,
etc. on a Windows machine is to use Logic 5.5.1 (or earlier) along with an older version of EVB3? Furthermore, is it possible on a
more powerful PC (i.e., 3.06 GHz P4, 533 MHz SysBus) to run Logic 5.5.1 hosting EVB3 *and* V-Stack hosting other NI or Steinberg
softsynths simultaneously? I don't intend to switch to Mac's at this point in my life and I really like the flexibility that a VST
platform affords, but from the feedback I got from those of you who've used both, it sounds like EVB3 is a superior Clone to B4, and
so if possible I'd like to be able to run both EVB3 and VST instruments. TIA to any and all comments, suggestions.
