Same engine, and yes it is velocity sensitive (sort of their way to work around the 9contact method of the new B3), and will transmit that velocity sensitivity as well. You won't see much new from Hammond at Summer Namm. They have quite a few goodies in store for the big Winter Namm though.

All this chat about the new XK3 'clone' is fascinating. I really envy
all you guys that have managed to bag one already. I have not heard
the XK3 as yet, but, as i understand it, it's using the same sound
technology as the new B3. If this is truly the case, then i know the
XK3 is a winner and i understand why everyone who has played it, is
raving about it. I played the new B3 sometime ago and i was really
impressed with it. I felt that i was playing a B3, not a clone. It
felt, looked and sounded exactly like a tomewheel B3. I guess in the
true definition of the term, even the new B3 is a clone, but who
cares, to everyone other than organ tech's and tonewheel purists, the
new B3 is a B3. Even people like McGriff and Joey are playing them.
So, that said, if the XK3 has the same sound as the new B3, doesnt
that make it a real Hammond? If its manufactured by Hammond, says
Hammond on the back/front, sounds exactly like a B3 and has the same
playing characteristic ie: same expression curve, same vibrato, same
percussion, same keyclick, same presets and options. ???
If the same sound technology has been used on the Xk3, (Please
confirm oh knowledgeable ones..) then we all really have a justified
reason to acquire a serious case of gear lust..
Personally, i'm waiting though, i want to see what's coming out of
the next NAMM. If there's a dual manual version to be announced then
maybe that's for me.....
