Subject:RE: New Hammond XK-3
Hey David...like I said in my review post, that location does suck. Because of its size and the need to get to the controls, my XK3 sits on top of my Motif which doesnt require too much live tweaking. The LCD screen is poorly located for viewing unless you sit or stand much higher and your arms are bent in "proper" playing fashion (not my case sadly). If you have the XK3 angled toward you, it probably wouldn't be a problem. But you know what? I keep likening these little things (the view screen, and the one octave shift for the left split) as making them more Hammond like. You don't have a view screen on any of your 3 Hammonds. In fact, you only get 4 programmable presets for each one of them (your B and Bflat presets for each manual). Once you get your presets where you like them, you really don't need that screen for much except editing. I saved a few that are radical and a go to registration, and I tweaked on the fly all nite long....just like a real Hammond. That alone
is enough to make this so much more desirable and playable than my Electro. But the fact is, there's a lot more.
Tony <----not a music dealer or rep or shill for "the Man"....just really happy with my purchase.

I will tell you something that I didn't like at NAMM, and that's the
placement of the tiny info screen way off on the left hand side.. Did you
find that problematic in your performance?

Everyone is going to like something different when it
comes to action...but the XK-3 is very Hammond like.
