I discovered this myself. Its handy, though I haven't tried to
become proficient at it quite to the extent Doug describes. But
here's another twist on that. If you don't mind using up a whole bank
of sounds, you set alternate patches the way Doug describes. Then
you just need one pedal to go up-up-up-up etc. every time you want to
change (it conveniently cycles back from 8 to 1). That way, you
still have another pedal input, which you can use as the rotary speed
switch. Of course, then you actually need a third foot to cover the
two pedals and the the volume pedal. I haven't solved that problem
yet.
