Subject:Externally triggered note messages not transmitting out of CX-3

Hi Group

I just ran into a strange glitch last night. I have a simple Yamaha
PSR keyboard that transmits note messages on MIDI Channel 1. With the
CX-3 set to receive lower manual messages on Channel 1, this has often
served me as a lower manual. Naturally, when I use the CX-3 to
control the EVB3, the CX-3 keyboard triggers the upper manual notes,
and the Yamaha keyboard then controls the EVB3's lower manual notes.
However, last night, I hooked the Yamaha back up after not using it
for a while. When I played the CX-3's internal tones, everything
functioned as normal. However, when I went to control the EVB3, lower
manual notes originally triggered from the Yamaha were not
transmitting out of the CX-3. If I put the CX-3 into split mode and
triggered notes from the bottom split, the lower manual note messages
transmitted. When I triggered them with the Yamaha, however, they
were not transmitting. If I been turned up the volume on the CX-3 to
use its internal tones, the Yamaha was still triggering CX-3 lower
manual tones, as it should. In other words, MIDI notes for the lower
manual, were only transmitting IF they were triggered DIRECTLY from
the CX-3 using a lower split. The same notes could be triggered from
the Yamaha if using the CX-3 internal tones, but they would NOT
trigger MIDI notes out of the CX-3. I verified this from the EVB3,
and in watching through MIDI-OX, where no messages were coming in from
notes triggered using the Yamaha. If I pulled the MIDI cable out of
the CX-3's "out" jack, and into its "thru" jack, then note messages
triggered from the Yamaha were transmitted into the laptop and its
software. Of course, then the CX-3 was no longer transmitting notes
because its MIDI Out was no longer plugged in. I played around with
the CX-3's MIDI global parameters, but nothing seemed to work. Any
clues? Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Doug
