I talked several times to Greg Rolie (via email).

I'm also obsessed about old days Santana's Hammond sound.

He told me that, for the recording of their first album (Lion's face)
the Leslie they had was pretty beaten up, old/lack of maintenance,
etc.

That's why we can get that sound;as I was told over and over, every
Hammond/Leslie combo has it's unique sound depending on several
factors.
