Subject:Velocity question

Question: I tried playing my VK-8 connected with midi out to an
Electro which works, except there's zero velocity transmitted for the
VK-8's pianos - this is weird as the VK-8's "Other" sounds pianos
definitely have velocity, playing harder and softer on its keyboard
has a mild but playable "natural" piano effect. Is anyone familiar
with this or know a way around it. The midi info pages show Velocity
as transmitted but also reads, Note On, Note Off. Hmm... A Midi
Solutions Velocity Converter comes to mind, $125± from Bruce Wahler,
but I don't know if you can make a velocity curve out of "thin air" =
