Hey Norm....thanks for the compliment! Yeah, sometimes it IS a drag being on the road. I find there are a lot of things I'm not so crazy about doing, and now with school, a few things that I just wont do. All in all, yeah, it's a positive thing. But like any other major change in life, it's accompanied with a little apprehension and a twinge of missed opportunities/regret. I'll still keep touring as long as I'm able (my last semester at school in fall of '02 I started 2 weeks late and left 6 weeks early because of tours in Alaska and Japan and still kept my 4.0), but with me entering into a law program, that could prove to be not quite as long as I hope. But....I'm already thinking about the next band I'll start and what we'll do! Does Chicago really need a good Booker T/McDuff meets Blackmore kind of band? HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

Norman Peterson wrote:Tony, I remember your post a while back mentioning you were having money woes and were going for a career change. You have to look at it this way; with a family, traveling with Hello Dave has GOT to be a drag sometimes, you live in the Chicago area thus other great music opportunities await you, your family will be happier and hey the chance of the band really being hugely successful is questionable. Not for lack of ability or talent, just the nature of the biz. I am 48 and went through this situation as well. I have a more stable life now, am playing in the coolest band ever and I can afford better equipment. I have a landscaping business and love my work. Have you considered music equipment consulting or politics?! lol. You seem to be multi-talented. Good luck bro, Norm

OHF is right....we all have moments, or periods of self-doubt, regret and other not so great feelings of what might have been. If it helps, try to remember that the greats in whatever field you're looking at (music, sports, business) have these same moments of doubt and regret; the only thing is they've achieved greatness because they've put everything else secondary to their particular field of excellence. Musicians: guys like Emerson and Wakeman have divorced numerous times....not only has it cost their emotional well-being, but their financial well-being as well (Emerson for sure). Trump is no stranger to wedded un-bliss either. Greatness is usually acheived as an overcompensation for some other deficit in one's life.
That said, I'm actually back at school figuring out what I'm going to do when I grow up (I'm 42) and will have to greatly alter my musical existence, much to my chagrin.
