OHF is right....we all have moments, or periods of self-doubt, regret and other not so great feelings of what might have been. If it helps, try to remember that the greats in whatever field you're looking at (music, sports, business) have these same moments of doubt and regret; the only thing is they've achieved greatness because they've put everything else secondary to their particular field of excellence. Musicians: guys like Emerson and Wakeman have divorced numerous times....not only has it cost their emotional well-being, but their financial well-being as well (Emerson for sure). Trump is no stranger to wedded un-bliss either. Greatness is usually acheived as an overcompensation for some other deficit in one's life.

That said, I'm actually back at school figuring out what I'm going to do when I grow up (I'm 42) and will have to greatly alter my musical existence, much to my chagrin.

Actually it's better you got it all out. Now move on and do what you
can do when you can do it and don't sweat the stuff that's gone. Most of us
here are old farts with tons of, "I could'a been a contender" stories. Just be
glad you're in good enough health to bitch a bit. OHF Bob
