Legs on WS-550 do not lock in place. You can tighten them up a bit
for more friction, but thats about it. I suppose you could also bolt
a piece of plywood to the stand , creating a table, and set your
keyboard on that (kind of a hassle). I use a WS-550 base, 2nd tier,
and fabricated a 3rd tier from quiklok components. With all that
weight ( S80,CX-3, Ion ), the torsional wiggle got annoying, so I
started adding braces until it was rock-solid. Now it is no longer
very portable, but I like all the room underneath for foot
controllers.
