Brass plugs will tend to tarnish over time, especially if you're not plugging and unplugging them in on a regular basis. Gold
plated is exactly what it says - it's really gold which never corrodes, but is generally reserved for plugs that are going to stay
plugged in that you don't want to corrode from exposure over a long time period (like your home stereo). Chrome plated is the best
way to go for cables you're using on a regular basis.
