Subject:ot: amps
Guys another quick question and you can email me off list if you like. I
need some advice. My keyboard set up is a triton extreme, roland vk8m motif
es6 and an alesis ion. last night, while driving all of this through my
KC550, it occurred to me that this is not the amp I need, at least I don't
think it is. Even with the bass controls turned off, bass notes were
distorting the thing. I am told the roland amps are only 150 watts, and a
lot of times, it is either shrill or distorting from too much bass, even
with the bass turned completely off. I like the roland for being self
contained and easy to move on wheels and stuff, but maybe I should consider
another alternative. 1. Does the roland output through its aux outputs, the
xlr jacks on the back ahat go to another mixer, through input 4? I read in
the manual it didn't. When I connect the VK8m to output 4, it must go out
to the board. 2. Would buying a separate mixer help me with my problems? 3.
Do I need more power on stage if I am distorting this amp? It only seems to
be happening at this one place, but I have been tweaking the EQ on this
thing for months and it is just not coming out right. It is either too
bassy or too pericing in the high end and I can't find a good balance. It
seems fine at rehearsals, but when I gig out with it, it doesn't seem to be
right no matter what I do. What do you all think, should I tweak it a
certain way or replace it entirely and if I do, what should I get? Should I
go with a new amp, or get a mixer and powered speaker setup? Thanks for any
help you can give.
