Subject:Hammond B3=A Buick!!!
That's been Hammond's motto for a while now: ".....roughly the equivalent of a
-insert present year here- Buick!" (I remember reading that the first time in Keyboard magazine and thinking "they think this is a GOOD thing????"
Obviously it was and still is cuz people are buying them (just not clonewheelers). It's not for me (I can own 3 real tonewheels for that price), but I know there is a real market for this. Churches for one; I remember reading an interview with the organist in REO Speedwagon (a pretty good rock Hammond guy, pre Benmont Tench) saying he loves his digital B3 cuz it has never changed tuning during an outdoor show (he didn't know about cycle regulators??) and it hasn't needed a fraction of the maintenance of his tonewheel Hammonds. (Notice I didn't say "real"....semantics aside, if it says Hammond on it, it's a Hammond.)
Oh dear....before noon everyone's going to wish I went back to lurking. I might just have to do that.
