I don't remember where I got this figure...I think from the Hamtech list some
time ago when this same subject came up....but I have a record here, and I
believe it to be reliable, that a new B3 in 1955 retailed in the range of
$2195.00 - $2395.00, tone cabinet *not* included. Independently, I researched the
base price of a new 1955 Chevrolet Corvette: $2,934. An optional AM radio
would've run you another $145.15. Now to *really* put this in perspective, the
average annual household income in the US in 1955 was $4,137.00.
