I'm not even sure that this was an accident. Unlike many inventors, Hammond
was quite an entrepreneur went to great lengths to promote his products..
Eg. His highly publicised blindfold comparison with a pipe organ and
travelling demonstrators or endorsers as we would call them now. ... also,
as an interesting aside, in order to get the electricity producers to all
keep to exactly 60Hz AC (so his clocks would keep good time), he sent them
all a synchronous clock,... courtesy of the Hammond Clock company.
