I'm not sure you could call 20 years of development an accident. Hammond
and his engineers created a phenomenal musical instrument thru a lot of
mental and physical effort. Certainly without the technological
limitations, the idiosyncrasies that make up some of the sound wouldn't be
there, but without an incredible human effort and attention to detail, the
Fundamental parts of the sound wouldn't be there either. A little while
ago, I trashed a T220 for the vibrato/chorus parts, and even though we all
know the T is the poorest of the tonewheel organs, I felt terrible pulling
out all the tone generator parts. The design and construction of this thing
is mind-boggling at least and awe-inspiring at most.
