Subject:CX-3 DEMOs, For A Change?

I'm a happy CX-3 (Version 2) player; have been these last 1.5 years. Anyone
who's seen practically any of my postings has already heard my praises for
this amazing instrument ("...eminently satisfying and novel, every time I
play").

Now... re Demo's. I like 'em; I enjoyed those which were available on the
Hammond XK-2; I now get a kick from occaisionally listening to those on the
CX-3. I forget the point of the related string. It's not the current one
involving the Hammond XK-3's; I think it had to do with people's likes/dislikes of
the demo phenomena in general, the idea that demos actually exist on clones
in the first place. My guess is, they exist solely to attract the prospective
buyer. And why not - they do inspire one to try "new" things when one hears
something interesting, buyer OR owner. While I don't remember the names of
them, it seems to me the XK-2 has 3 "songs" in it. First, a
flight-of-progrock-fancy which begins with a quiet pipe organ flute-y thing and moves into a
good, Lord-esque, no drawbars-barred overdrive thing. Second, a Smith-ish jazz,
888000000/3d Harmonic song... and Third, a kind of swing-jazz song(?). As I
recall these did inspire me, each with its' own direction, prog, jazz et al...
but the result was my reaching "high dudgeon" (as I read in that book about
The Nice, or was it Chris Welch's Yes book; DK), when faced with that awful
C/V one had when the internal Leslie was on.

The CX-3's demo's... 1st of all, there are more of them, more choices of
likely Hammond-y applications. A couple of favorites of mine are the "Prelude"
and "Hymn" songs. I'm not a church organist but do love classical organ; and
these songs, along with the blues/jazzy things on there, are in fact a
constant reminder (not that I need one, believe me) of the amazing versatility of
this fine organ. "Organ"? Yep! Sure it'a a clone... the same way Laurens
Hammond's new (in 1935) organ was called, on the official patent-papers anyway,
something along the lines of an Electronic Musical Instrument! Rejoice all ye
CX-3 players, in this time of so much noise about the new XK-3... you've got
