Thanks for the heads up guys. Anytime I'm not 100% sure of what I'm saying (or prepared to make an ass of myself) I always preface with "I might be mistaken." In this case, obviously I was.

The Motif itself is a great instrument, but I wouldn't have purchased had they not SWORN to me that there would no Motif rack. (This was a Yamaha rep.) Well, they lied, but to be fair, it did take almost 2years for that rack to materialize. I liked it right away and it had a lot of things my Motif8 didn't have, but not enough that I would retire the Motif I owned. But the rack was a great addition to the home rig. I checked out the ES when I was in LA, and I liked that a lot too, but w/o my rack next to it to compare, I couldn't really see what the improvements were. Regardless, the math of upgrading my Motif8 to an ES just didn't make sense to me.

If you're not totally insane about owning the latest and greatest, this would be a great opportunity to get an original Motif at a blowout price. Myself, I'm hangin on for the XK3, just in case, and quite possibly the Fantom rack. (The EMU Vintage Pro is quite cool as well, and cheap as hell.)

PS....by the way, the thread that started this, the Motif into a Speakeasy, has been something that I considered back when I first got my Speakeasy. But I really dont want to know how great the Speakeasy will make my Motif sound...then I'd have to buy another one, and then when using the big midi rig...I'd have to get a huge modular Speakeasy? That and the issues of PA....just too much for me. But I guarantee you, it would sound killer.
