The new B3 sounds head and shoulders above any of the current clones
on the market. It sounds like a tonewheel B3 to my ears. It has 96
digital tonewheels, i think they sampled the pure tones of each of
the original tone generator wheels, so rather than sampling a note as
played, the new B3 does more or less what the old tonewheel does, it
generates tones from each tonewheel and then combines them to produce
each individual note. I'm not that up on the technology of it, but i
believe this is essentially what's occurring. Other clones sample or
generate the actual note, not the pure tones, when you play a C on
the XK2, your hearing a sampled recording of the sound generated when
the C key is held down. On the new B3 your hearing a combination og
pure tones combined to produce the C note. Someone straighten me out
if i've got this wrong....
