Parts of the Hammond design used ni-chrome wiring, which has a much higher resistance/foot than copper wire. I don't remember specifically where it was and wasn't used, although I believe that the manuals were definitely one place. This wire contributed to both impedance matching (by design) and loudness robbing (probably, by accident initially).

There are definitely issues to be aware of when chopping a classic Hammond, and wire length in certain places is part of it.
