Tony,
I had a good giggle with your particular brand of "voodoo". I'm not the
superstisious type (being a techo nerd) but I think you are on to some all
pervading cosmic principle here !
There is not a technician on the planet that has not had to fix intermittent
faults. The fault is present when the customer uses the thing. Any
technician gets close it automatically fixes itself ! Go away - fault back
again ! Sometimes several times over. This effect is even more pronounced
if technician carries a screwdriver ! I think you carrying all those
spares must set you up with a kind of 'karma aura'. It'll be all over the
day you forget one though ! I'd bet money on the first time you don't take
a particular spare will be just the time you need it !
I'm sure this is same type of voodoo that determines how the photocopier
knows exactly when you are in a hurry so it can run out of paper (and if the
voodoo gods aren't with you Ink too !)

. I carry all sorts of talismans in my road case to keep things
working: complete set of tubes (haven't changed one in 3 years); belts
(haven't had to do it yet); screwdrivers (always comes in handy); wrenches
(have had to tighten belts with these); fuses (knock wood! never needed one
in 20 years!!!!), and a spare cable of every type, leslie, 1/4 patch, 20ft
instrument, extension cable; spare pedals of every type too. It's overkill,
but my own brand of voodoo has served me well.
