Subject:RE: NAMM and Electro

Actually, the feel of the keyboards on the XK2, XK3. new B3, B3
Portable, is NOTHING like a real Hammond's. That is my biggest complaint
about the new Suzuki keyboards. They are incredibly spongy and feel like
crappy synth keyboards. In addition, the pivot point of the key is
different. They feel nothing like any of my four B3's that I have at
home.

Joey played the new XK3 and the Portable... But you know something? Joey
can play an accordion and make it sound good. I played all the organs
there and like the sound of the New B3, but if they replicated the sound
engine in the XK3, they certainly did not replicate the Chorus Vibrato..
It is too deep and wobbly (much worse than the V2 Korg's)... And forget
about choosing C1, and C2... They sound totally different and
unusable...

The XK3 sounds pretty good through a Leslie, but so does a Nord and CX3.

As I have mentioned before, I like the XK3, but they have to do a great
deal more work on the Chorus and the Leslie Sim. The Leslie sim is
unacceptable as in the fast mode it sounds unauthentic. And the new tube
distortion does nothing when using the internal Leslie.

A previous poster was right, if they made a great Leslie sim like the
CX3's, they would be hurting their sales of high end Leslies. So think
of the XK3's price as being closer to $3200... $2200 for the XK3 and
$1000 for the Leslie 21.

the feel of the XK2's keys is Hammond without a doubt and
i'd wish the sound was there as well. makes me want to buy and old xk2
and
gut the keybed and throw the brain away and reinstall it in a nice slim
cab..
but then there's the expression pedal that the XK2 has..too many
variables....you namm guys try out their top of the line B3, if they had
one there? what did
joey play while there? if so what did it sound like for 20 grand? a
real B
can be had for 5 but the supply is dwindling and the will to move them
more
so.if the wave of the future is B4 and EVB3, laptop, then someone should
get it in
gear to make great waterfall controllers and drawbar modules because so
far
software virtual keyboards ( the keys themselves) are a physical
impossibility.
we still need to use our hands and feet, for you kickers, in the end, no

matter the brain. life is everything but boring....
