Subject:Re: Double tier for clones

Same problem here. I almost took mine to a welder, which is probably
a more elgant solution.
My rig has an 88 on bottom and 76 on top. There is about 2" vertical
distance (air space) between the top of the bottom rig and the bottom
of the top (I don't do a any patch changes from the 88, but I still
need to see its controls). This was more satisfying to me than the
way the stand was designed (about a 12" air space between boards).
It's a Quick-Lock "X" with the "ears" or extensions for the 2nd tier.
What I did won't work on a 61 key upper manual b/c it's too short.
What I had to do was fold the outward extensions way out, then
dismantle the extensions--otherwise they'd be sticking out wider than
the 88--and slide them back down parallel, engaging the teeth into
the bottom teeth, not the top. Then use screw clamps to actually
secure the ears rather than the teeth.
I realize this is maybe next to impossible to visualize from my
description, but keep in mind that what I end up with is 2 manuals
that are ergonomically placed about the same as a real B3.
