Subject:Re: Difference between old CX3 and present CX3
Since 1992 I've owned and played a Hammond XB2, XK2... and most recently a
CX3, the newer model (bought it a month after the 2nd version was introduced; no
piano-like lip on the keys... the DARK reverb setting... some other
improvements/enhancements). This is the most satisfying and realistic clone I've come
across. The vibrato/chorus is outstandingly real; the very position of the V/C
tabs, dial, and the perscussion tabs all being similarly positioned to a B3,
all contribute to my preferring this clone over any other. I never played the
older CX3; I can't help you re comparisons. But - I've had a Hammond M-102 with
a Leslie 760 since August of 1986, and since acquiring the CX3 I RARELY turn
on the M! The sound is SO close... with a few tweaks (in all honesty the
deafault sound of the organ IS a little "clean"), I find the rotary (no "Leslie"
name anywhere, not on the organ or in the manual) effect reaches the sublime
"sweet spot" of a good Leslie 122. I love all the standard drawbar settings...
the 888000000/3d OR 2d Harmonic, the gospel-y 808000008 or 808000002 and others,
all convey the sound and The Feeling on this organ. Do I sound like I'm happy
with my purchase? It's very true! Best wishes - Adam
