Subject:Birth of a new organ discussion group
With the blessing of our esteemed moderator, Eric Lawson, comes the following announcement:
I've noticed on the Clonewheel, Hammond Zone, Nord Electro and Combo
Organ groups that we end up with a lot of very popular discussions
about, for example, what registration is used on Oye Como Va, or how
you do a windmill chop, or whether Al Kooper is really as good as
other artists of his generation, or what the chords are to Arthur
Brown's Fire. Great stuff, but for the most part, they're far off-
topic for these sites. Moreover, these topics often get repeated on
the various sites.
I just created a Yahoo group called "Organ-ized," with this
description:
"Your place to discuss the playing techniques, artists and music
that make rock, jazz and blues organ great. A place to learn the
chords and registration to a classic song, to discuss the great
artists and their work, and to share tips to improve your organ
technique -- whether you're playing a Hammond, a clone or a combo
organ. A place to talk about everything but the hardware..."
The site is available at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/organ-ized/
Right now, there's nothing posted on the site except my welcome message.
If you like the idea, stop by to join, and leave a message to help get things going.
And, if anyone would like to volunteer to be my co-host/moderator on the site, let me know.
