Subject:Re: midi volume
What I can't figure out with my V5 and Roland A-33 midi controller
keyboard - a GM/GS/GS2 controller they stopped selling new about 2½-3
years ago - is that it will control any midi sound module's volume
via a connected Expression pedal from either midi 1 or midi 2 out,
but not the V5's volume. There is an enable/disable CC# to filter
Expression messages on the A-33 and it's enabled. Before I buy a
midi helper, I'd really like to find out if it's needed = is that the
only way the V5 will accept CC#7-CC#11(?) data? I don't run my gear
thru a computer so midiox is of no help (thanks for the suggestion).
Anyone with hands-on experience with V5 and keyboard controllers or
an idea why the V5 seems stuck here? I'd been using a volume pedal
from the analog output and only recently thought "hey, why not use
the dawgone expression pedal?" TIA ~ Walter
...What you really need is a programmable midi patchbay, like Digital
Music's MX something or other. That effectively takes any midi
keyboard and with a little programming of the MX, turns that keyboard
into a decent midi controller capable of what you're trying to do and
more...
