Generally adjacient notes do clash and sound off-key unless they are split by one octave such as a 9th chord wherein the 8th is dropped in lieu of playing the 9th note. The 8th (root) is actually played one octave lower or better yet, in the pedals.

How'd you come up with the G on the first chord and the extra C on the
second chord? It's been a while since I actually tried to pick it apart with
the CD. Maybe I missed them? I have that problem sometimes and it usually
helps if I hear it through someone else. The guitar player in our band has a
fabulous ear for this kind of thing. However I did fire up my Triton to hear
it with the extra notes and it sounds kind of like the extra notes clash???
Again my ear tends to fool me at times... I do think it would be a great
idea for us keyboard guys to come up with a website for chord changes just
for a situation like this. I'm really surprised no one else has come up with
anything. I wish I knew what the actual chord name was, I looked into it but
can't remember...
Cheers,
Brian

You"?
Hey Brian,
Thanks for replying! Wouldn't you know, I was able to figure it out *click*
just like that, late night, after literally hours of working on it.
Here's what I figured out (over a C bass):
A-D-Eb-G
C-C#-F-G
Let me know what you think.

My band plays this one and "Games People Play". We played it in C which is
the original. I always played the following over a C bass; 1st chord Eb-A-D,
2nd chord G-C#-F. I actually looked up the technical name for the chords but
have forgotten them. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the off-topic post, but does anyone know the two chord opening for
"I Wouldn't Want To Be Like You" by the Alan Parsons Project?
Sad thing is, I used to play this in a cover band around 15 years ago. I
could figure it out then, but now, hmmmm..................
