Subject:Re: agonizing over upgrading my vk7
I think I would disagree that the VK8m is a better clone than the Electro, having owned them both. The Electro is still the best of the clones, IMO, although the VK8 series does have its strengths. I like the percussion and the amp modeling on the VK8stuff. But for your particular situation, where tactile response is a must, I honestly think the VK8m is the way for you to go. I know you don't carry a leslie, but with some tweaking the VK8m is certainly a fine instrument. Drawbars and their placement will be important, and since you are well familiar with your VK7 you know what kind of sounds you like. After an evening of some initial tweaking (no screen on this one either) with one of your bandmates to assist, you'll be pretty happy.
