Yeah man! I own an ole Bx3, too. I got a Leslie w/ tube preamp, which
sounds quite fine, so as the others suggested, with a Leslie (a tube one
ore transistor with tube preamp) you will improve your tone 1000%, the
leslie sim onboard is really crap. I don´t know the Leslie pricing in US
(I´m from Germany), but here the prices for Clone-Leslies (Dynacord,
Echolette etc) are quite ok. You get some transistor model (which could
be a plus when playing loud gigs) with some kind of tube preamp (f.e.
the speakeasy, which is on your side of the world quite affordable I
guess). I got my Leslie for 200 US$ and an HK preamp for about 150 US$.
And it makes a pretty nice pair on stage! On the other Hand, if you
could afford an MS, you´ll have a better tone I guess. And, the
serviceside is much bette, too, I guess. One other thing to think about
could be an Leslie effect, like the HK TubeRotoshpere, which is quite
popular here in Europe. I got one, too and it works excellent, just the
backround-sound is much to loud. Don´t even think to record with this
one :-).
So, finally its a matter of what you need and what you want to spend for
it!
Ah, just one thing! Sometimes I LOVE the pure Bx3 + Guitaramp tone...
soooo groovy! Don´t want to miss it on Highway Star! :-)
