Subject:Re: was OT, now is Chronic contribution...but CLONEWHEEL RELATED
The Shure Vocalmaster was my first keyboard amp (not counting my new at the time 76 Fender Rhodes Suitcase 73). I stupidly sold the Rhodes in 81, and bought a CP30 (what was I thinking?), and used a Roland RS-09 string machine and Arp Prosoloist, all through the Vocalmaster. What a sound....

I also had a 910 "back in the day." HUGE. I kept on frying the treble horn tho. As teenagers in the mid-70s, we believed that we needed the biggest and loudest amps possible. What, mic the amps thru the sound system? Isn't that what vocals go thru?
The drummer from that band still has a Shure Vocal Master PA in his garage - and it works.

I had a 910 leslie (not the 920) which was a 2piece behemoth hooked up to a cutdown C3 I used to own. (The price was right: $900 for a C3 that was "cut down" by cutting the side panel/legs off under the main carriage...ugh!, $600 for the leslie...ok, maybe the price wasn't so right, but I was in the ballgame!) The 910 was freakin loud, REALLY loud, but even with the C3, tended to be a little too harsh. It sounded fuller than the Pro3t/LoPro set up I had, but that same teeth gritting top mid thing was still there. I did use that 910 for quite a while with an old analog CX3 live. I gigged with that and actually liked it, but this was the first leslie I owned, so I can be forgiven for that. Had I been a bit more adventurous, I should have disconnected the 6x9s, but that would probably screw up the impedance. Did I mention they're ugly?
