Subject:was OT, now is Chronic contribution...but CLONEWHEEL RELATED

You're killing me Doug!

I had a 910 leslie (not the 920) which was a 2piece behemoth hooked up to a cutdown C3 I used to own. (The price was right: $900 for a C3 that was "cut down" by cutting the side panel/legs off under the main carriage...ugh!, $600 for the leslie...ok, maybe the price wasn't so right, but I was in the ballgame!) The 910 was freakin loud, REALLY loud, but even with the C3, tended to be a little too harsh. It sounded fuller than the Pro3t/LoPro set up I had, but that same teeth gritting top mid thing was still there. I did use that 910 for quite a while with an old analog CX3 live. I gigged with that and actually liked it, but this was the first leslie I owned, so I can be forgiven for that. Had I been a bit more adventurous, I should have disconnected the 6x9s, but that would probably screw up the impedance. Did I mention they're ugly?

At this point, if I'm not using a real leslie, the Nord leslie sim seems to suit me more than any other leslie sim or leslie impersonator I've heard or owned. But I'm still very curious about the Pro145. If it sounds half as good as Jake promises, it'd be worth investigating...but the price is still a little intimidating. Unfortunately, it's just not the kind of thing anyone is stocking.

I know this wasn't the model you were interested in, but the 910 was like the Big Kahuna of that product line, so take that for what it's worth. Actually, now that I think about it, I owned a 720 (?) or something like that: a proline solid state no upper rotor leslie. I found it cheap, played with it for a week, and then wisely spun it off to my guitarist who was an SRV freak. It didn't sound any better with him playing through it. ;-)

Nothing sounds like the real thing....although some sound KINDA like it.

Guess I couldn't keep my yap shut....
