You can get a pair of SRM 450's on Ebay for an average of $1000. I have
used one in the past and have been very pleased with it both for organ
and non-organ sounds. Not as light or as easy to carry as a Motion Sound
KP200s (what I usually use now) but has a better bass response and
frequency range. Great if you are using one keyboard. For two keyboards
you will need a mixer.

Once more with this thread please...
My concern is more an issue of driver configs than products.

1. LF drivers.
Does the typical 15" LF + HF combo really get a full range response?
(JBL EON, Roland KC-550) Although you'll get the thumping bass, I'm
aiming for a tighter crisper sound produced by 2-12" LF (Mackie
SRM-450s) or 2-10" LF (Barbetta Sona 41) The idea is that more mass (2
drivers) will move air faster and less effort than a single 15"
resulting in a quicker response in the mids and louder as well.
I recently heard my bass player's Mesa Boogie with 4-10" drivers and
it sounds sooo good and still has great bass response compared to his
15" system.

2. Active (bimamped) vs. passive (crossver) systems.
I've heard some awesome systems using both, the result being the
product of great components. An active system is a no brainer until
you start to compare the SS amps/xovers/compressors in these lines.
Any experience with thermal overheating, sonic quality in these?
(EONs, SRM450s, Barbetta, any others?)

3. HF drivers, opening up a can of worms...
Ferro fluid, phenolic, titanium, alluminum, ribbon, etc.
What is the shrill versus the thrill?
I realize some drivers can kick in starting around the 500 Hz range.
others kick in at 3k.
Which biamp system handles the x-over point well.

4. Is a pair of SRM450's (with 1202 mixer/preamp) really worth
$1500? Any other suggestions for a super clean, tight system?

Thanks,
Chris Thomas
