Subject:Re: CX3 worthy upgrade to Electro?
I don't think Hammond really cared about the XK-3's Leslie sim.
Having played one recently, I think it's better than what they offered
in the XK-2, but it's still not on par with the CX-3. My guess is
that they are targeting the purist who will buy the Hammond name, and
insist on playing it through either a real Leslie or a clone of that
device. It boils down to what works for you when it comes to sound
and portability. Bottom line -- listen carefully and read the manuals
before you buy!
Instead of upgrading the Electro to a CX-3 right now, I'd wait for
NAMM. The CX-3 (with v2 software) is an excellent clone, but it's
almost 5 years old (which makes the technology even older). Korg has
been putting tubes in everything lately, so I'm holding out to see if
they have a new organ in the works. Just my $.02.
