Ah, what about the Leslie sim?
Most of what I followed here would suggest something in the as sold XK-3 Les. sim to be less desirable than CX-3, Electro, VK-7, early OS VK-8.

Of couse if the C/V of the XK-3 is better than the VK-7 the end product for going without a Leslie or MS may still be better, As someone suggested a matter of the basic tone too.
