Subject:Re: Invisible Stand....3rd tier

Tony, here are a couple of ideas. BTW, I really enjoy your Iraq
stories. You are a good man.

I am a die-hard fan of Invisible stands, but never had the official
3rd tier option and did not think it looked that great in the first
place, since it compromised the amount of room available for the
bottom 2 keyboards if you have ever seen the photos.

What I have done for adding a 3rd keyboard...

You should consider stacking your XK3 in the middle. You can then
pick up a generic 2nd tier addition for an x-style stand (OnStage
brand worked for me and cost about $15). Attach this to the
protruding ends of the chrome support bars sticking out the back of
the stand. You will need to use 2 bolts to keep them in
place...force them over the chrome ends and then push the bolt
through the remaining opening to keep them in place. The crossbar
that goes through the x-stand adaptor is then a ledge upon which you
can apply a bunch of velcro. Apply velcro also to the top shelf of
the XK3. Then you can plant the Korg between the new stand addition
and the ledge of the XK3.

Another option is to consider a VA synth with a smaller footprint,
like a Nord Lead or Alesis Micron. It would be able to perch right
on top of the XK3 with some velcro and nothing else. I had this rig
for some time with my RD600, XK2 and Nord Lead stacked in triple-
decker fashion on my 2-tier Invisible stand.

Hope that helps and good luck on the travels!

Regards,
Eric
