Subject:Re: Preferrences for reading a midi file and printing as "sheet music"

Hi Claire,

I've been using something called midi-notate for a while. It is an
inexpenive program that does conversion of midi to scores. It also
allows some limited modifications of the score like moving a note
form one staff to another or "rounding off" note values. It can't
transpose the score. It can delete notes, but not add. It also
allows playing and pausing playback and starting playback from a
given location in the score. Very nice for learning parts, You can
easily hide various staffs so you can, for example, print out the
keyboard parts and guitar parts seperately.

The link is:

I see that the version I've been using has been replaced by a
slightly more expenive one ($49) which may have more power and they
have a full composing from scratch packege for $99. Anyway, they
offer a 30 day trial so it may be worth trying out to see if it
works for you. I have been very happy with it, but I can't say that
I've used anthing else.
