Subject:Re: 2 Tier Stand For XK3
Hi,
I'm mostly a lurker here, but I had to join the discussion on
stands. I haven't tried them all, but every x-stand and z-stand I
have tried just wasn't steady enough for me. Depending on the design
they either rock sideways or bounce up and down or both. The single
column ones are very convenient to move but otherwise awful. The
stand I ended up with is a Standtastic. They come in 48" and 60"
models with 1, 2 or 3 tiers. The tiers are fully adjustable in
height, length and step-adjustable in angle. You can add additional
tiers, a mic boom, and a holder for a rack-mount box. Folds up
pretty easily and slips into the included gig-bag. No loose parts
when you fold it up. You pull out a few pins, but they stay strapped
to the stand.
I've managed to squeeze an e4k, vk8 and virus kb all on the 48"
stand. But it's pretty tight. I would probably recommend the 60"
stand for more than 2 boards. The e4k on the bottom is sticking way
out to allow for access to the controls on the top. It rocks/bounces
just a little. The other 2 boards are very solid. Maybe not as solid
as my old A-100, but that's long gone.
My only complaint is the thumbscrews for adjusting the tier length
add about 1/2" to the minimum spacing between boards and are a
potential source for scratches. I replaced mine with allen-type
screws.
Hope this doesn't sound like an ad. I have no connection to
Standtastic other than being a happy customer. I won't advertise any
muic stores, but you won't have any trouble finding it with a google
search.
