Subject:Re: Leslie 2101 base for other keys
Jimcs,
Thanks for the detailed explanation of ins/outs and switching. All
of that sounds wonderful for using XK3 together with the leslie
setup.
My main question is how the setup will sound when using both top and
bottom units together with both XK3 and other full range keyboards
such as piano, strings, brass, etc.. You said the bottom speaker is
rated up to 15khz, which is not bad, not great. Probably good enough
for a keyboard amp. How do you think it sounds as a regular keyboard
amp if there is no organ plugged in? As good as a barbetta? Does
the bottom unit also have its own tweeter/horn?
Can my other keyboards also be sent to the top unit or is the top
unit 100% reserved for only organ?
I could also get something like a Barbetta to use together with the
2101 top and I guess maybe it would have perhaps more full range
sound for my other keyboards?
I tell ya, that 2101 top just added so much...I dug it. I may have
to start out with a smaller setup though...using emulated leslie
together with a normal keyboard amp (maybe leslie bottom or barbetta)
and then adding leslie later.
One reason for getting the leslie bottom is that it matches the
leslie top, they stack on top of each other and look great. It also
has wheels built in.
One other question is about how to mic the leslie top. does it have
built in mics or anything like that?
