The Leslie has to be turned on, or the right 1/4" output is
a "Leslied" signal, so a dummy plug to fool it won't work.

From across a room, there is very little difference between playing
the digital Leslie through the lower unit of the Leslie 21 System
and playing the Leslie 21 System in that they both sound very good,
there are sonic differences. Since the lower unit can really
reproduce the low notes as well as the high notes, it sounds great.

I have the L21 behind me and to my right and the other amps behind
and to my left. I've got the ramp up/down speeds and other settings
pretty close and they sound very good together. My other amps don't
produce quite as clean and powerful a bass as the L21 lower unit,
but if they were not side by side it wouldn't be very noticeable.

If I was starting from scratch and could only buy one piece at a
time, I would buy them in this order: Lower unit (L/M 1/4"), upper
unit (L Cable w/ lower unit 1), lower unit (L/M 1/4") , upper unit (
w/ lower unit 2 add Leslie Y Cable), and if necessary, lower unit
(L/M 1/4") etc.
