I am reminded of the band who, after a horrible gig, where the vocals
were buried, bass hid behind the kick, guitar was screechy and
overloud, and the keyboardist might as well've not come, tipped the
sound guy $30.00, to his immense surprise.

The next visit, the guy was all over it, checking levels, riding
faders, keeping everything balanced. At the end of the evening the
band tipped him $3.00.

"What the hell?" he said. "You paid me great last time."

The band member smiled. He said, "THAT tip was for THIS time. THIS
tip is for LAST time."
