Hello Dave,

Make sure that the adaptor you use on the DMI64 is an AC output adaptor, that
is, 120V AC input and 9V AC output -- NOT 120V AC in and 9V DC out. The
symptoms you describe sound exactly like what happens when you try to use a DC
adaptor on a device that needs AC. You probably didn't damage the DMI by using
the DC adaptor, but don't press your luck -- stop using it now. They should
have the adpator you need at Radio Shack, just make sure it says 9VAC output,
with at least 1000ma current output. You don't need to concern yourself with
the Watts rating -- just the AC voltage and amps.
