Subject:You Nord Electro and Xk3 owners Thanks
Hi,
Well I think I'm on the verge of deciding what to get. So, wanted to
drop a line and say thanks for all the info coming in on the XK3 and to
you Nord users thanks as well to my queries about getting combo sounds
from the electro. All of the tips worked well and even sounded better
when played through an amp as opposed to headphones. Hehe but you have
to read further to find out what I decided. And yes, if anyone has any
more suggestion I'm still all ears.
I'm in a precarious situation as I need both piano (wurly mostly)
sounds *and* organ sounds for the 2 bands I'm in. I tried to justify
the XK3 by either using my current board for those (the An1x) or
finding a piano module that was small and easy to operate. I'm also
drawn to the nord as people really seem to like the leslie sim on it as
well as the fact it's not much heavier than my current board. This is
important too as I need to protect my 2 bad shoulders carrying stuff as
I play accordion as well (that's the main reason these bands like me
playing with them). Another thing that the electro offers is some not
so common effects at my disposal for the organ sounds which means it
can get whacky enough for the avant rock band I'm in as well as the
traditional sounds for the blues band (can't wait to use a traditional
B3 patch with the wah-wah, don't know of any hammond players that've
done that). Then finally price factors in too. The Nord is almost
affordable for me on a layaway plan. I just may be able to pull this
one off.
So that seems to be my decision for now. Pretty convinced but still an
open ear.
